Resumen (Presentación general del programa): Waste management is challenging urban sustainability and causing severe social and environmental impacts. Zero Waste is a initiative to support better waste management in cities and requires transforming infrastructures, policies and education. To achieve this, we need participatory tools to engage stakeholders. Youth have a high potential for co-creating strategies and solutions, but they are excluded from decision making. The study engages students aged between 12 and 14 years old, using participatory research methods, including community mapping, group discussions and workshops to capture their perceptions of waste issues in their environments. In Victoria, Monterey Middle School has a total of 411 students and 18 divisional teachers. This project directly engaged with one class of 26 students and 2 teachers, Indirectly the project will have a school wide impact as well as in the neighbourhood. In Brazil, there is 40 students and 2 teachers in each school.
